The 500 series celebrates its world premiere.

ComfortClass 500: comfort redefined.
With the new ComfortClass 500, released in 2012, Setra raises the bar for the efficiency, comfort and safety of high-decker coaches. The modern design comes with outstanding aerodynamics. Together with a completely new generation of motors, this means fuel consumption is significantly lower, making the bus more economical and environmentally friendly.
From its striking, friendly face, the elegant line traced along the side, to the rear with its spoiler lip and multidimensional tail lights, the visual impression also suggests an enticing travel experience. The innovations continue on the inside. The driver‘s cockpit is inviting, and not just from an ergonomic point of view. Passengers are welcomed by a light, spacious cabin with a pleasant atmosphere, elegant service sets and sophisticated climate control. A wide range of lengths and almost endlessly variable features mean practically all desires can be fulfilled.
History:
- The Burj Khalifa in Dubai opens in 2010. At a total height of 829.8 metres and with 189 floors, it is the tallest building in the world to date.
- Clean-shaven is so yesterday: since this decade, men have gone back to the beard – and in a vast number of styles. Entire fashion blogs and YouTube channels are dedicated to perfect facial hair care.
- 2018: tears of joy and celebration at NASA. After a journey of around 485 kilometres, the InSight robot lands just north of the equator on the Red Planet.

If, in 2013, you think comfort has nowhere left to go, the new Setra TopClass 500 proves you wrong. The impressive, triple-axle super-high-decker concentrates on travel pleasure, combining efficiency with outstanding luxury. With the TopSky Panorama glass roof, a unique lighting concept in the passenger cabin, innovative under-seat heating, an even more opulent cockpit in the front, massive luggage compartments below and an incredibly powerful, low-exhaust motor in the rear – the Setra TopClass 500 stands for a new dimension in premium travel.

- Ever greater numbers of devices make life easier for us and interact with each other on the digital plane. The most important communications tool is the smartphone, which shapes our daily lives like no other piece of technology in this decade.
The double-decker – an all-rounder.
A further unqualified highpoint is the new Setra S 531 DT double-decker, launched in 2017. Part of the TopClass 500 range, it combines maximum efficiency, versatility, comfort and safety with outstanding interior and exterior design. Depending on the furnishings and fittings, this spectacular travelling giant can either be a luxurious long-distance traveller, an exclusive bistro bus, an individual tour bus or a practical solution for long-distance regular routes. In other words: it fits wherever high passenger capacity is the order of the day.
MultiClass LE business – the specialist.
Alongside exciting travel coaches, uncompromisingly efficient intercity buses have always been a Setra speciality. The latest proof of this comes in 2014 with the LE business models in the MultiClass 400 range. These low-entry vehicles combine the advantages of an accessible low-level entrance at the front with a highlevel rear section and maintenance-friendly power units. This means lower costs for bus companies and higher comfort for their passengers.
Assistant systems – to be absolutely safe.
Setra and safety are two terms that are seamlessly linked. This can be seen in the Active Brake Assist 4 emergency assistant with pedestrian detection and the Sideguard Assist turning aid – both of which celebrate their global debut in the Setra 500 series. A further Setra premiere: the forward-thinking Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) unburdens the driver and saves fuel.
OMNIplus ON and BusStore – innovative services.
Setra ComfortClass 500 coaches and the TopClass 500 are fitted with the “Bus Data Center” telematics box as standard from 2019. With this, OMNIplus begins an era of new and versatile digital services for buses and coaches. The digital services can be administered on the OMNIplus ON online portal. Bus companies can benefit from four service areas to support maximised vehicle availability, fleet management, driver support and replacement parts purchasing. The new pre-owned bus brand BusStore offers innovative provision, such as clear classification and warranties.
