The Setra ComfortClass, Setra TopClass and Setra S 531 DT coach model series will receive numerous technical further developments within the framework of a comprehensive product update. These include new drive components, additional digital functions, enhanced assistance systems and a further developed driver cockpit. The introduction of the new features will take place gradually from 2027.

With its further development, Daimler Buses is pursuing the objective of further increasing profitability, vehicle availability, safety and driving comfort. Bus companies benefit from additional digital functions and improved networking, while drivers are supported by new assistance and comfort systems.

Higher efficiency thanks to further developed drive technology.

A central component of the product update is the new generation of drive technology. The further developed engines work together with new transmissions as well as additional vehicle and software optimisations. This can reduce fuel consumption depending on the engine and vehicle configuration. Long maintenance intervals and a design designed for high mileages also support high vehicle availability in daily use. The further developed Predictive Powertrain Control system takes the route and topography into account in the driving strategy and can thus contribute to an economical driving style and increased driving comfort.

Digital networking for touring coach operation.

With a new electronics architecture, the Setra touring coaches create the fundamentals for additional digital services and end‑to‑end connectivity. Software updates can be installed for selected control units via over‑the‑air technology. This allows for flexible planning of updates and continuous further development of vehicle functions. At the same time, the new electronics architecture forms the basis for additional assistance systems and digital services.

Extended assistance systems for more safety.

The extended safety functions include Active Sideguard Assist 3 and Active Cross Traffic Assist. The systems support drivers in turning, lane changing and traffic situations with crossing road users and can warn of possible collisions or assist with automatic brake applications within their system limits.

Multimedia Cockpit Interactive and Navigation.

Another element of the product update is the Multimedia Cockpit Interactive. The driver cockpit combines a high‑resolution central display, a touch display and a newly developed multifunction steering wheel and enables intuitive operation of central vehicle functions. The system is supplemented by a navigation system specially tailored to coach operation. Vehicle‑specific parameters such as length, elevation or maximum axle load can be included in route planning. Navigation destinations can also be transferred directly to the vehicle via the OMNIplus ON Portal.

Setra S 531 DT with specific further developments.

The Setra S 531 DT double‑decker touring coach has undergone further developments. These include a completely newly developed chassis with a low‑maintenance axle, controlled dampers and vehicle dynamics tailored to the vehicle. Comfort steering supports the driver in daily use, while new tires reduce the turning circle and improve manoeuvrability. At the same time, passenger capacity and luggage volume remain unchanged. A further developed heating, ventilation and air conditioning system also increases comfort for passengers and drivers.

Comprehensive product update for Setra touring coaches.

The Setra touring coaches have undergone a comprehensive technical update with the joint further development of drive technology, electronics architecture, assistance systems and the driver cockpit. The result is vehicles that combine efficiency, connectivity, safety and ride comfort and support bus companies in the requirements of daily operations.
