Legal notice on active safety assistance systems: Emergency braking systems and other safety assistance systems can support the driver and mitigate the severity of accidents or prevent accidents in critical driving situations under optimal conditions, within the system limits. However, irrespective of this, the driver has a duty to adapt his driving behaviour and in particular his speed to the traffic and weather conditions and to be attentive at all times. This applies in particular to special situations such as icy or wet roads, rain, crosswind, poor visibility, snowfall, fog, etc. Consequently, the driver, as the driver of the vehicle, has the responsibility for the entire driving situation at all times and must not rely exclusively on the safety assistance systems.

Assistance systems can only support drivers. The driver is always fully responsible for driving the vehicle safely.

Economy

Your drive for more efficiency.

Thanks to many vehicle-specific individual measures, the Setra TopClass offers you exceptionally favourable fuel consumption. This is partly thanks to the advanced drive train from a single source. From the powerful and economical engines complying with the latest variant of the Euro VI emissions standard to the fully automated transmission and the smooth-running drive axle, all components bear the Mercedes star. On the other hand, the intelligent energy and consumption management as well as the exemplary cw value of 0.33 make a significant contribution to the favourable consumption of the TopClass. The maintenance costs of the TopClass are also surprisingly low. The long service intervals, the good accessibility of the components for maintenance and a well thought-out cleaning and replacement system for the exhaust gas aftertreatment all contribute to this. For all aspects of repair and maintenance of your bus or coach, OMNIplus is at your side with Europe's largest bus-specific service network. Whether 24h SERVICE, staff training or digital service innovations – with OMNIplus you can optimise the cost-effectiveness of your Setra TopClass even further.

Predictive Powertrain Control

The advanced and predictive cruise control PPC integrates a driving style adapted to the landscape into the automatic gearshift and, in conjunction with the precisely tuned gearshift strategy, enables noticeable fuel savings. With the new, optimised generation, the system is now even more powerful. PPC guides you along country roads, takes junctions and roundabouts into account and is networked with the Adaptive Cruise Control. It can already be used from a speed of 15 km/h.

Optimised and further developed for the future of intelligent driving, the predictive cruise control PPC is a prime example of the digital networking of buses and coaches. It draws on the topographical data of more than 95 per cent of motorways, trunk roads and interurban roads in many European countries. Via GPS, PPC always knows the current position of the vehicle and its route ahead with its altitude profile or gradient. Based on this data, the current and preset speed, the current vehicle mass and the data on engine power, torque and transmission, PPC regulates the speed and influences the shift strategy. EcoRoll is also used in the process: In worthwhile cases, the technology selects the neutral position of the transmission and thus allows the vehicle to roll longer without drag losses to save fuel. The engine continues to idle. Afterwards, the technology shifts back into gear.

Now also in intercity transport with cruise control

Predictive Powertrain Control recently optimised the driving style even on intercity routes where the use of cruise control was previously not sensible. For this purpose, curve radii, speed limits and right-of-way rules at intersections and roundabouts throughout Europe have been stored in the map material.

Human Machine Interface

Assuming Predictive Powertrain Control, this is shown in the cockpit display by a green shining symbol. Graphics are also shown that schematically announce the route events ahead.

Intelligent cruise control

Predictive Powertrain Control controls the cruise control in a fuel-saving manner. Depending on the terrain and situation, the tolerance values above and below the set speed (hysteresis) may be exceeded or fallen short of at certain points.

Forward-looking engine management

The new Predictive Powertrain Control now also optimizes the load of the engine on less demanding routes.

The new Driver Score assist system offers the driver important support. The driver’s driving style can be continuously optimised with practical messages in the display. The system scores in four categories – Acceleration, Braking, Smoothness of Drive, Coasting. Also relevant is the information on the vehicle status, such as low levels of fuel, AdBlue or engine oil.

Driver Score evaluates the personal driving style according to certain parameters for each of these categories. In the Braking category, for example, the frequency with which the retarder is used at the highest level instead of operating the service brake or the sensible sequence of braking is evaluated. In the Acceleration category, on the other hand, a closer look is taken at how the accelerator pedal is used and the engine speed. With the new generation, the scope of the monitored parameters again increases significantly. Thus, in future, both the new and the existing parameters will be allocated to the four categories Acceleration, Braking, Smoothness of Ride, Coasting. A step that makes efficiency tangible.

The wireless tyre pressure monitoring with indication in the multifunctional display is an electronic safety system that permanently monitors the air pressure of all tyres. Tyre pressure losses are displayed within the system limits.

The right tyre pressure contributes to driving safety and significantly reduced fuel consumption. Even a tyre pressure set 0.5 bar too low can increase fuel consumption by up to 5%. The wheel electronics are positioned on the valve on the inside of the rim. The sensors record the data relevant to the tyre pressure and transmit it to the display instrument.

A worthy investment.

The TopClass convinces with its high overall economy.

A Setra TopClass pays off for you. The perfectly tuned powertrain, advanced assistance systems and its unsurpassed aerodynamics minimise fuel consumption. Long service intervals, a dense service network and a highly professional spare parts supply ensure operational readiness. The TopClass also impresses when you consider its cost balance over the entire life cycle.

Why a TopClass pays off for you.

The Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) reflects all costs over the useful life of your TopClass. After all, what your TopClass costs is not just a question of purchase price and financing. That's why we at Setra always look at the big picture when we develop buses and coaches. The essential TCO factors include the investment costs, the energy costs, the costs for maintenance and repair as well as the residual value when selling your vehicle. We optimise all these factors to achieve the best possible overall cost-effectiveness for you. For example, by constantly developing assistance systems and optimising maintenance intervals, but also through customised service and, last but not least, through the well-known quality and durability of our buses and coaches.

Exemplary overall package for more efficiency.

For low TCO costs, we work with you to match the equipment of your TopClass precisely to the required use. The choice of driver assistance systems in the vehicle plays a central role here. This allows you to specifically avoid accidents and the resulting repair costs and workshop times. They also help the driver to be as fuel-efficient as possible on the road. Another point is also the right service package for your TopClass. Whether service contracts, employee training or digital services – our OMNIplus service brand supports you with a customised offer to ensure operational readiness. And if a Setra does have to make a stopover there, OMNIplus has the densest bus and coach-specific service network in Europe. Combined with an unrivalled spare parts service including in-house 3D printing. This total package enables you to enjoy your TopClass for a long time. A pleasure that lasts even when you want to replace your TopClass with a successor model in future. In this case, you will be pleasantly surprised by the high resale value of your Setra. If you wish, BusStore can also guarantee the residual value of your vehicle and buy it back later. This gives you the greatest possible planning security. Your Setra contact will be happy to calculate it specifically for you.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Looking at the big picture.

There is a lot more that goes into what your Setra costs than its purchase price. At Setra, we always make it a point to look at the big picture when we develop a coach or bus. We optimise all TCO factors in view of achieving the best possible cost-effectiveness for you. These factors include investment costs, energy costs, maintenance and repair costs, as well as the residual value when your vehicle is sold.

The good news is that yes, we can influence them and we do – to the greatest possible extent. For example, by continuing to develop and evolve our drive components, by reducing the need for maintenance, by offering customised services – and of course, through the well-known outstanding quality and durability of our coaches and buses.

Safety

All round protection.

The next generation of the Setra TopClass shines with first-class safety equipment. A spectacular innovation in the field of assistance systems for touring coaches is the optional Active Drive Assist 2. This offers the driver semi-automated driving at all speeds for the first time in a bus. For this purpose, existing and proven systems and technologies have been further expanded in their functional scope, and they work together in Active Drive Assist 2. This includes the further developed anticipatory cruise control Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC), Lane Assistant (SPA) and the new Active Brake Assist 6 Plus (ABA 6 Plus). Accelerating, braking, keeping distance, steering, staying in lane – the Active Drive Assist 2 is a decisive step on the path towards the automated driving of buses. It is active in the entire speed range from 0 to 100 km/h on motorways and motorway-like roads. At low speeds, for example, when manoeuvring, is where the 360° camera system shows its advantages. It is based on four cameras at the front, both sides and at the rear of the bus. The four images from the cameras are combined through data fusion to provide a 360° bird’s-eye view of the touring coach and its surroundings. The new, even brighter integrated full LED headlamps with Highbeam Assist show that even good things can be improved. As a result, the next generation of the TopClass is once again a true safety bus in the best Setra tradition.

Active Drive Assist 2

Active Drive Assist 2 actively assists the driver with distance and lane keeping by combining various assistance systems. The system can brake, accelerate and keep the vehicle on track through active steering movements. To this end, it combines the functions of the individual systems in a unique way and thus already enables semi-automated driving in all speed ranges.

The smart entry into automated coach driving

All assistance systems work together with Active Drive Assist 2: to ensure the most economical driving style possible, the system acts according to the specifications of the Predictive Powertrain Control. The system uses functional extensions based on the tried-and-tested adaptive cruise control and the active lane assist for longitudinal and lateral vehicle guidance. To detect the traffic ahead, Active Drive Assist 2 uses the same advanced radar and camera technology as Active Brake Assist 6 Plus.

1. Close-range radar: 130° I range 70 m
2. Long-range radar: 18° I range 250 m
3. Mono camera: 25° I Range up to 600 m

360° camera

The 360° camera system consists of four cameras that capture the immediate vehicle environment and generate an indirect all-round view. The associated 10" screen is located on the A-pillar above the cockpit. This system allows pedestrians, cyclists and obstacles to be seen even in areas that are otherwise not visible to the driver. In this way, the system increases road safety, as collision hazards can be detected and, at best, prevented.

The views from the 360° camera are available up to a speed of approx. 20 mph (30 km/h) when driving forwards and always when reversing. Note: Risk of accidents due to objects protruding into the traffic area above the cameras, e.g. protruding roofs, exterior mirrors of your own and other buses, etc. The cameras cannot detect these objects. Particularly in the 360° view, the impression of a free environment can be created even though objects above the mounted cameras protrude into the turning space.

Active Brake Assist 6

The emergency braking system ABA 6 assists the driver by automatically initiating emergency braking if there is a risk of rear-impact collision with vehicles in front or stationary obstacles. It also detects moving or stationary persons and cyclists in front of the vehicle. The system reacts to this with an acoustic and visual warning to the driver as well as an automatically initiated partial braking or emergency braking.

With Active Brake Assist 6, accidents can be avoided even more reliably. The system covers the entire vehicle speed range and is active in the background. Up to a speed of 60 km/h, pedestrians and cyclists can react. The ABA 6 safety system reacts to crossing and oncoming pedestrians and moving cyclists in the vehicle’s own lane with automatic emergency braking. This automation also provides increased safety for cyclists, whether in intercity or urban traffic.

Sideguard Assist 2

Sideguard Assist 2 is a safety assistance system that supports the driver in critical situations when turning right or turning left when visibility is possibly restricted. The system is designed to help detect moving obstacles within the system limits, and warns the driver so as to avoid critical situations or reduce the consequences of accidents when turning off or changing lanes.

The side areas of the vehicle are constantly monitored. As a result, vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists who may be in the blind spot are detected on both the front passenger side and the driver’s side. The radar system precisely detects the movements and warns the driver of possible collisions. The intuitive user interface and clear warnings allow the driver to drive safely and relaxed.

Traffic Sign Assist (TSA)

The innovative Traffic Sign Assist offers maximum safety and comfort on the road. Thanks to GPS and camera support, the vehicle speed is constantly compared with the current traffic regulations.

The system is designed to provide dedicated and appropriate feedback if the permitted speed is exceeded. Thanks to the state-of-the-art instrument cluster, the driver receives both visual and audible signals that immediately draw attention to the speed.

MirrorCam

The modern MirrorCam system provides a clear and full view of the road traffic. Equipped with high-resolution cameras, the driving safety is improved and the risk of accidents is minimised. The extended field of vision enables the driver to see pedestrians, cyclists and other road users in the surrounding area. This eliminates the blind spot when turning right.

Depending on the vehicle, the images are displayed on 7" and 15" monitors. The two high-resolution displays show the different fields of vision. The photodiodes integrated in the monitors detect the incident light and adjust the brightness of the respective monitor individually. To make it easier for the driver to evaluate the images, the 15" variants have three different guide lines. Together with the permanently calibrated vehicle end line, the distance line assists the driver in assessing approaching objects. The Overtaking Assist overlay is activated from a speed of 10 km/h with flashing, in order to safely assist overtaking or turning. In addition, the display for Blind Spot Assist is installed in the monitor.

High beam assistant

The high beam assistant automatically switches the high beam on or off depending on traffic, so that optimum illumination of the road is always ensured. In this way, it contributes to greater safety through improved lighting conditions and optimized illumination, and increases driving comfort and safety.

Lane Assist (SPA)

With the aid of a camera system behind the windshield, the Lane Departure Warning system detects when the vehicle unintentionally leaves a marked lane. As soon as the vehicle crosses the markings, the driver is warned by a clear vibration on the corresponding side of the driver's seat.

The LDWS is activated from a speed of 40 mph (60 km/h). The lane assist system is switched off when the turn signal is activated, for example when the driver initiates a deliberate lane change. The system can be deactivated in the ICUC menu, e.g. in a construction site.

A small camera behind the windshield uses boundary lines to record the road directly in front of the vehicle. If the vehicle is about to cross any of the markings without a turn signal being activated, the driver is alerted by a pulsation in the seat. The camera determines the instant of warning based on the width of the lane, the distance to the marking line, and the speed of approach to the marking. The LDWS becomes active above a speed of 40 mph (60 km/h); it is switched off by operating the turn signal, for example when initiating a deliberate change of lane.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM)

The wireless tyre pressure monitoring with indication in the multifunctional display is an electronic safety system that permanently monitors the air pressure of all tyres. Tyre pressure losses are displayed within the system limits.

The right tyre pressure contributes to driving safety and significantly reduced fuel consumption. Even a tyre pressure set 0.5 bar too low can increase fuel consumption by up to 5%. The wheel electronics are positioned on the valve on the inside of the rim. The sensors record the data relevant to the tyre pressure and transmit it to the display instrument.

The tyre pressure is recorded both when the vehicle is stationary and when it is moving. Caution! A sudden loss of pressure, for example due to the penetration of a foreign body, is not immediately indicated by the tyre pressure monitoring system. Damage to the tyres that does not lead to acute pressure loss is also not detected by the monitoring system. Here, visual inspection by the driver is and remains essential.

Attention Assist (AtAs) is a safety assistance system that can help prevent microsleep. It thus contributes to improved driving safety, especially on long journeys and when driving at night. The system warns the driver visually and acoustically when it detects typical signs of overtiredness or inattention and prompts him/her to take a break. The warning is independent of the electronic logging device (ELD).

To analyze driving behavior, the steering movements are evaluated and an individual driver profile is created from them. The evaluation of the steering style is based on a stored algorithm. It evaluates steering errors made by the driver. At the beginning of the journey, the system first “learns” the driver's steering profile – this only occurs at speeds above 37 mph (60km/h). During the journey the custom steering behavior learned in this manner is then constantly compared in an electronic control unit with the driver’s current steering behavior and the respective driving conditions. A warning with a symbol (coffee cup in the display) appears when the current steering style deviates from the steering profile learned by the system.

The windscreen wiper flat blade system with integrated screen wash supply in the wiper blade distributes cleaning fluid through several nozzles directly over the wiper blades on the windscreen.

With its innovative profile, the flat wiper blade ensures that screen wash is evenly distributed on the windscreen. This increases comfort, saves screen wash and, due to the considerably better cleaning action, also ensures optimum visibility – ultimately a plus for safety.

The Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) significantly reduces the risk of the vehicle skidding and tipping over by selectively braking individual wheels or by braking the vehicle as a whole.

High-performance electronics monitor the signals from the ESP® sensors and constantly determine whether the steering commands of the driver match the actual movements of the vehicle. If the values deviate from one another, the system decreases the engine torque to restore stability to the vehicle. If this is not sufficient, it also brakes individual wheels or the entire vehicle. The driver’s request for deceleration is observed at all times.

Exemplary safety even in unforeseen traffic situations - the electro-pneumatic service brake system (EBS) achieves shorter braking distances and less brake wear. The electro-pneumatic service brake system (EBS) increases road safety by improving braking stability and reducing braking distances.

Due to the electronic control of the EBS brake components, significantly shorter response times are achieved at the brake cylinders. The system distributes the brake pressure optimally to all axles, thereby ensuring the best possible braking effect. In the unlikely event of an electronic system failure, a dual-circuit pneumatic redundancy is available. This will still bring the coach safely to a halt. As a further development of the conventional air brake, the EBS offers numerous advantages. When braking, the control unit first activates the continuous brake (retarder and/or engine brake). If greater retardation is required, the control unit uses the information in the data network to determine the optimum braking pressure for every axle. The electropneumatic brake system enables shorter braking distances compared to a pneumatic brake system as well as significantly less brake disc and lining wear due to the integration of the continuous brakes described above.

In addition, EBS constantly monitors and optimizes brake pad wear axle by axle. This allows service and pad change times to be coordinated. Integration of wear-free brakes such as retarders and engine brakes (retarder integration) additionally protects the brake pads and leads to less brake pad wear. The overall result is reduced downtime and thus an improved cost-benefit ratio.

The strength of the bus/touring coach body is also an important factor for the level of passive safety of a bus/touring coach. Its resilience can mitigate the consequences of an accident. The high strength of our vehicles' bus/touring coach bodies is guaranteed in part by all-round, weight-optimised annular frames.

The rigidity is defined in accordance with regulation UN ECE-R 66.02. It specifies the exact "survival space" which must be guaranteed by the structural design in the event of an accident.

Start the vehicle without putting the key in the ignition: the keyless access system Keyless-Start (drive authorisation system 4 FBS 4) makes this possible. The electronic vehicle key only has to be located in the cockpit area, so it can remain in the driver's pocket. The engine is started by pressing the start button.

At the same time, Keyless-Start serves as an immobiliser that prevents the bus from being started without a suitable key. When the driver approaches his vehicle, the key for operating the central locking system is recognised. It can then be operated by a button on the key. After entering the bus, the vehicle detects the key in the cockpit area. The driver can now unlock the ignition by pressing a button or switch on the ignition. The engine is started by pressing the start button for more than five seconds, alternatively by briefly pressing the start button while pressing the brake pedal.

Front Collision Guard offers increased safety in the event of a head-on collision thanks to a crossmember behind which crash elements are located. Their absorber structure converts the impact energy into deformation energy. The crossmember serves as a reliable underride guard. As the driver's seat is mounted on a solid frame part, this can move completely to the rear in the event of a serious head-on collision and thus better preserve the driver's safe space.

The patented technology includes a multi-part cross section as underride guard behind the bumper with the idea of protecting other road users, e.g. preventing a car from going under the bus. The front-end structure behind this cross section consists of crash elements that can selectively dissipate energy in the event of a collision. In addition, the driver's area, including steering, pedals and seat, is located on a massive frame section that is displaced rearward as a complete unit in the event of a serious head-on collision, thereby increasing the survival space by vital centimetres.

The rain sensor increases traffic safety, especially when driving in convoys, through individually adjustable, automated wiping functions.

The light sensor increases road safety by automatically switching on the driving lights depending on the current lighting conditions and thus improving the visibility of the roadway.

The electronic brake with hold function combines easier handling, more comfort and greater safety. When the bus is at a standstill, the vehicle is held by the service brake by pressing the brake pedal above a certain point, and the brake is automatically released when starting off. The function can be deactivated by a button.

The roll lock is activated when the ignition is switched on. The basic function is to control and hold the brake pressure last controlled via the brake pedal at a standstill. The brake is then only automatically released during the start-up process. The release of the brake depends on the applied starting torque. In the case of longer downtimes, a warning message is sent after 10 minutes with the request to use the parking brake.

The low beam and high beam benefit from the outstanding luminous efficacy of the integral LED headlights, which also use significantly less energy than standard lights. They provide broad and precise illumination of the road. Another safety benefit is the temperature of the light, which is similar to that of daylight and makes the eyes tire less quickly. The LED lights assure a long service life and low degradation (decrease in luminosity).

The light cone of the LED headlights is precisely defined. More brightness and longer range provide additional safety. LED lamps are about two to three times more efficient than conventional incandescent lamps.

The headlights reach their full luminous intensity immediately after being switched on and provide wide-ranging and precise illumination of the road. They have a soft cut-off line and a subjectively larger reach. And LED headlights increase economic efficiency through their low power consumption and long service life. They have low degradation, i.e. the light output remains largely consistant over their service life.

Design

Design that impresses and fascinates.

The next generation of the Setra TopClass inspires with a design as if from a single mould and at the same time surprises with many refined details. Its unmistakable face is adorned – almost like a piece of jewellery – with the Kässbohrer brand plaque and a chrome-framed Setra brand logo. Turn signals, daytime running lights and position lamps are arranged on a chrome strip above the integrated LED headlights. The chrome-plated side character element is shaped three-dimensionally and appears to float on the body. The modernised graphics of the rear lights with wide vertical stripes also feature the brand logo. The new TopClass is excitingly new and yet unmistakably Setra.

New accents in the interior design.

The interior of the Setra TopClass is also more attractively designed than ever. This includes both the revised decorative inserts in the cockpit and the new service sets with their ventilation nozzles that can be intuitively adjusted in any desired direction. The modern and airy new partition walls with inserts of tinted glass are also fascinating. With their restrained transparency, they emphasise the spatial effect of the passenger compartment. What has remained is the fascinating Setra variety of high-quality seating from our own factory – with endless combinations of colours, covers and decors. These now come even more to the fore thanks to the elegantly dark fixtures.

Distinctively excellent.

The new family face.

The headlamp design has also been spectacularly revised. The new, even brighter LED lights offer even more safety when driving at night. Incorporated in a black chrome-plated housing, they are modelled on the shape of theatre spotlights and illuminate the road for the driver almost like a stage.

The front light design has also been considerably revised. The new, even brighter LED headlights now shine in the TopClass and ComfortClass (optional). With black-chrome coated housing, the LED headlights are modelled on the shape of theatre spotlights and illuminate the road for the driver in a stage-like fashion. Refined: Indicator, daytime running light and position light are combined in a full LED lighting element to form a "light bar" and are harmoniously embedded in a shiny clasp.

Discover a new fascinating side of Setra.

The new dynamic character element of Setra coaches.

With the new striking design, Setra coaches attract all eyes. The character element with the three-dimensional brand logo prominently placed on the side profile functions as an unmistakable identifying feature. It is finished in chrome on the Setra TopClass and in silver on the ComfortClass. The new look is completed by the La Linea, which extends along the entire length of the vehicle. This adds dynamism and emphasises the aerodynamic design of the body with its lines.

A luminous statement.

A new design of rear lamp.

The new rear lamp with its impressive design blends in perfectly with the vehicle's appearance. The Setra logo in the lighting cluster sets an unmistakable example of a clear and confident appearance with high conciseness of the new lines. The line print of the branding is illuminated by an LED strip inside the cluster.

Comfort for the passengers

Sit back and relax: Passenger comfort in the Setra TopClass.

Space is true luxury – in the Setra TopClass it is particularly generous and opulent. This already starts with the wide entrance. The passenger compartment offers ample room to move and, thanks to the optional TopSky Panorama glass roof, a magnificent view. Perfect climate control with the greatest possible protection against infection thanks to advanced ventilation systems and antiviral active filters. Carefully select decor catches the eye, the hand glides over high-quality surfaces, tastefully arranged and carefully crafted. Loving details such as the ambient lighting or the service sets with new, even more functional air vents characterise these super high-decker buses, which are outstanding in every respect. And when it gets dark outside, the new large monitors inside light up in HD quality.

Your favourite seat is reserved for you.

Seat comfort is of paramount importance, especially on long journeys. Setra seating from our own production is available in numerous variants. All are characterised by their legendary workmanship and comfort. Especially when combined with the optional, multi-adjustable headrests. The seat covers are a feast for the eyes, because the choice of fabrics and combinations thereof is virtually inexhaustible. Offer your passengers something special, combine upholstery and covers to create a unique feel-good ambience on board.

The service sets are convenient to use and shine with their high-quality design. Among other things, the 360° adjustable round nozzles and the LED reading light contribute to this. The individually adjustable air nozzles provide for better regulation of the air supply and are visually offset to a high standard.

The large, tinted Top Sky Panorama glass roof also gives passengers the best views when looking up. The glass roof is double pane over the center aisle of the coach. It is tinted and has an energy transmittance of 21 percent and a light transmittance of about three percent. It is fitted with a hinged glass flap as an emergency exit hatch. This also complies with US legislation.

Thanks to the stylish ambient lighting, passengers can expect an exceptional feeling of space even in dark lighting conditions. With the security of being able to move freely and find your way around at any time. The ambient lighting complements the main lighting on the service sets and radiates pleasant lighting effects along the entire length of the passenger compartment.

LED technology has a lower energy consumption than conventional light sources and also contributes to lower maintenance and repair costs due to its longer service life.

Operation is conveniently carried out at the driver's workplace via the "Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning" HVAC control unit integrated in the instrument panel. The air conditioning system ensures homogeneous temperature distribution in the passenger compartment and offers the option of dual-zone control in the floor and roof areas. Passengers can regulate air supply using their individual service sets.

Onboard toilet with comfort and multiple options

The onboard toilet offers passengers a carefree travelling experience – thanks to high quality standards and convenient access. Integrated directly into the boarding area, the onboard toilet fulfils the desire for maximum seating capacity. With the optional equipment variants such as sustainable water flushing instead of chemical flushing as well as smoke detectors, the onboard toilet has further advantages.

The optional version for long-distance vehicle convinces not only with fresh water flushing without chemical additives but also with equipment for high comfort demands. These include the washbasin with metal tap, a reinforced toilet seat, an additional paper roll holder and another mirror on the inside door.

Sophisticated down to the interior details

The asymmetrically shaped partition behind entrance 1 underlines the high-quality equipment of the interior. Stably anchored directly to the floor and parapet, the partition is based on a robust integral foam frame with an elegant glass insert. As a further option for individualisation, the partition can also be fitted with an insert made of plastic or wood.

It has storage facilities and a luggage net and comes with stylish Setra lettering.

Level lowering and kneeling

Kneeling to boarding side ensures more comfortable boarding and alighting for passengers at the stop. When the driver presses the kneeling button or, if automatic is preselected, the door button, the vehicle is lowered to a preset height on the boarding side. Part of the air escapes from the air spring bellows and the vehicle tilts towards the passenger.

One-sided lowering (kneeling) can be initiated automatically by opening the passenger doors, either via the kneeling button on the instrument panel or after activation with the pre-selection button. When the kneeling button is operated, the positions of the doors are taken into account. If the kneeling pre-selector switch is activated, the vehicle is lowered automatically via the “open door” signal to the boarding side and the doors open simultaneously. The driver can carry out an emergency lift with one button.

On tour with on-board infotainment

Thanks to the Coach Infotainment series, coach travel is even more comfortable for drivers and passengers. This is ensured by the intuitive operation of the system via touch screen, control panel and voice control with predefined command sets for the cockpit area. The system has DAB+ radio, USB audio and Bluetooth audio streaming with many audio formats. The integrated navigation system supports the driver with a coach-specific route calculation with commercial vehicle attributes. In addition to the prioritised driver microphone, up to two travel companion microphones can be integrated.

Via voice control, navigation and intermediate destinations within the current language area can be entered in the local language. In addition, voice control can be used to operate telephone functions and the sources in the cockpit. Online traffic reports (Premium Traffic) can be used in conjunction with a cell phone paired via Bluetooth; an active data connection is required for this. The system can be supplied with map updates for up to 7 years after the production end of the device without further license costs. This requires a PC and USB stick, which are not included in the scope of delivery. If passenger monitors are installed, the attendant can feed their own audio and video content into the passenger area via HDMI interface (bringing your own device). The system is rounded off with Bluetooth audio streaming, which can also be operated via a passenger's mobile phone.

High-resolution monitors for exclusive entertainment

Setra offers passengers the best entertainment on board. For this purpose, the latest generation of monitors are used, which provide entertainment on the road. Thanks to the latest monitor technology and proven reliability, even long coach journeys fly by.

Media Router for Internet access and media streaming

The Coach MediaRouter is a mobile WiFi hotspot via which passengers can access the internet with their mobile devices. The management of several SIM cards and effective bandwidth control round off the profile of this automotive media hotspot.

The device enables about 40-50 passengers to connect their mobile devices to the internet. The router establishes the internet connection via a mobile phone connection (combo antenna with 2 LTE branches) that supports the LTE (Long Term Evolution) standard. The advantage compared with a direct internet connection is the avoidance of typical reception interference and conserving the data volume of the passenger. The reception area outside the vehicle is approx. 30m. Furthermore, the router can be connected via a USB port to a media server by Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) to provide media content such as music, videos and images (playable media are MP3, MP4, JPEG and PDF)

Ergonomics and function in harmony

The attendant’s seat must meet high standards of ergonomics and comfort. But also in terms of functionality, it is important to meet high demands for contemporary flexibility with intelligent technology. The Setra attendants’ seats achieve both perfectly.

Whether as a single or double seat – the Setra attendants’ seats ensure a pleasant journey and a comfortable workplace. Ergonomically and functionally well thought-out, the foldable seats equipped with a 3-point safety belt impress with a variety of details and options. Depending on the series, the backrest can be infinitely adjusted manually or electrically and the seat can be moved forwards by 35 or 70 millimetres using two locking points. In addition to the flexible, body-friendly seating position, the armrest on the wall side also offers extra comfort for attendants/tour guides. Thanks to the compactness of the seats, more space is guaranteed for entry as well as for an upstream freezer or storage cupboard.

Comfort for the driver

A driver's dream: the cockpit of the Setra TopClass.

Everything under control.

The cockpit of the TopClass impresses with its uniform, intuitive operating and display concept. Its functionality is further enhanced thanks to new equipment features. Such as the keyless access system Keyless Start or the electronic parking brake. In addition, new assistance systems make everyday driving easier. The predictive cruise control PPC dazzles with its extended map coverage of Europe. Active Drive Assist 2 is a decisive step closer to the future of autonomous driving. And the 360° camera ensures better all-round visibility when manoeuvring.

Comfort Plus cockpit.

The high-quality Comfort Plus cockpit, including multifunction steering wheel and modern instrument cluster, is easy to operate, offers high-quality surfaces and a great deal of comfort. All instruments are clearly arranged and within easy reach without changing the seating position.

The multifunction steering wheel and the high-resolution color display with intuitive stack-and-cards menu simplify work in the cockpit behind the wheel. In addition, the Coach Infotainment Series is integrated. The glare-free display provides all important information at a glance and supports the driver if desired with further details such as tour data or fuel consumption. This way the driver can focus entirely on the road – an essential contribution to greater road safety. The driver will also find additional storage facilities and spacious stowage compartments. The refrigerator in the Comfort Plus cockpit offers a volume of 2.4 cubic feet (67 liters).

Relaxed and safe on the road.

Comfort begins even before you get on board: when entering the next generation of Setra TopClass, the key simply stays in your pocket with Keyless Start. The engine is started simply by pressing the start button, that's all it takes. The new electronic parking brake already impresses with an easy-grip control knob. And it can do a lot. It is activated automatically when the coach stops and the driver leaves his seat. It is released by pressing a button or pressing the accelerator pedal. Hold function and starting aid are integrated. All together, a real technical showpiece. This applies all the more to Active Drive Assist 2. It bundles previous assistance systems, can accelerate, brake, maintain distance, steer, keep in lane – the path to autonomous driving is paved, fascinating. One of these assistance systems can now do much more: the intelligent predictive cruise control system Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC), with its extended map coverage, now covers not only motorways and trunk roads but also almost all extra-urban roads in Europe. PPC leads over country roads, even takes into account intersections and roundabouts. Comfort and safety are combined in new, even brighter LED headlights, now with High Beam Assist. The 360° camera effectively supports manoeuvring. But the pleasure on board should not be neglected either. The new Coach Infotainment series offers the latest generation of media usage for professional use in coaches. With flexible operation at the touch of a button, touchscreen or voice command – always adapted to the respective situation, it couldn't be more convenient. It all adds up to underline why Setra enjoys such an excellent reputation among drivers.

Keyless start with immobiliser

The keyless entry system Keyless-Start allows the driver to operate the central locking at the touch of a button on the vehicle key. After entering the coach, the vehicle detects the key in the cockpit area. The engine can then be started by pressing the start button. At the same time, keyless start increases security against vehicle theft thanks to the integrated immobiliser.

When the driver approaches his vehicle, an antenna detects the key for operating the central locking. It is operated by a button on the key. After entering the coach, another antenna inside the vehicle detects the key in the cockpit area. The driver can now unlock the ignition lock by pressing a button or switch on the ignition. The engine is started by pressing the start button for more than five seconds, alternatively by briefly pressing the start button while pressing the brake pedal.

Multifunction steering wheel

The easy-grip 4-spoke multifunction steering wheel has a diameter of 450 mm and is adjustable in height and inclination. The buttons can be used to operate the instrument menus, radio and telephone conveniently and safely.

The multifunction steering wheel is integrated into the intuitive operating concept. If, for example, a proximity cruise control system is installed, the speed and distance can be adjusted using the control buttons on the multifunction steering wheel. The multifunction steering wheel can be adjusted in height and inclination thanks to the standard adjustable steering column. Adjustment with integrated valve on the steering column is unlocked pneumatically.

Driver's seat

The optimal seating ergonomics of the GRAMMER driver's seat Linea/Tourea significantly improves the bus driver's working conditions and thus contributes to his health. The innovative ergonomic basic shape with comfortable adjustment options ensures a healthy sitting position at all times.

The air-sprung comfort driver's swing seat from GRAMMER is equipped with height adjustment, inclination and depth adjustment of the seat cushion, continuously adjustable lumbar support and side contour adjustment, rapid lowering as well as integrated headrest and seat belt.

All the control elements are combined into control units and arranged ergonomically next to the seat.

Tempomat

Cruise control is an electronic system that enables the vehicle to maintain a pre-selected speed even under changing load conditions.

The system allows speeds to be set from 15 km/h up to the vehicle’s control speed. It is controlled via the steering column switch on the right side of the steering column.

Cruise control can also be activated or deactivated using the multifunction steering wheel.

Break-in and theft alarm system

The burglary and theft alarm system (EDW) increases security for the vehicle by deterring potential thieves due to the vehicle's visual and acoustic security devices. The system secures the passenger doors, luggage compartment doors, engine compartment door, maintenance and electrical compartment door and monitors the interior. Unauthorised tampering or intrusion is signalled visually (flashing lights) and acoustically (signal horn).

Electrically heated mattress in driver’s rest area

The electrically heated mattress provides more comfort in the driver's rest area, even at low temperatures. It consists of PU moulded foam and is covered in grey fabric. The power of the heater can be controlled via a wired control element with a 3-step switch. The mattress is fire protection tested according to EVO 132.40.
