Where history comes to life.

The Kässbohrer hall shows the heritage of the traditional Setra bus brand.

In the Kässbohrer hall at the Daimler Buses site in Neu-Ulm, brand history is made tangible, because history creates identity and at the same time shapes the future. This is particularly true for the traditional Setra brand, as it is closely linked to the Kässbohrer entrepreneurial family, whose passion and inventive spirit brought to life the self-supporting body that gave the brand its name.

Innovation and passion.

The place where the rich heritage of the Setra bus brand has been concentrated since the end of 2025 is Kässbohrer Halle at the Daimler Buses plant in Neu-Ulm. The hall in Plant 4 uses a new concept to make the history of bus construction in the Ulm region tangible. Visitors can marvel at unique exhibits and take a tour of the plant to learn about the passion driven by the founding fathers, the innovative power they have demonstrated over generations and the values that still shape the actions of the enterprise and its workforce today.

Milestones in bus history.

Many of the exhibits that can be seen in the Kässbohrer hall come from the Kässbohrer house in Ulm. The brand’s history began there, in the picturesque fishing district - a story that goes back to the 19th century. It began in 1893 with the “Kässbohrer car factory” founded by Karl Käßbohrer, continued with the first Kässbohrer bus still towed by horses, and reached a first highlight in 1911 with the first regular-service bus, the Wiblinger Auto. At the end of the 1920s, bus production was expanded and, after the tough years of war, the Setra brand was born in 1951 with the S 8 under the leadership of Otto Kässbohrer, marking the beginning of an unprecedented success story.

Experience historic buses.

The unique exhibits in the Kässbohrer hall tell an impressive piece of bus history in an equally visual and fascinating way. With 18 buses, two trailers and five sleds, Daimler Buses has the largest collection of historic vehicles of the Kässbohrer/Setra brand ever. With competence, passion and attention to detail, the classic cars at the Neu-Ulm site are maintained, restored and thus preserved for future generations. The exhibits are not only in top form visually, they are also largely still roadworthy.

A journey through time.

When visitors, customers or brand fans enter Kässbohrer Halle, the first glance probably falls on the historic vehicles. But they are not the only exhibits in the Kässbohrer hall that fascinate visitors. The collection is perfectly rounded off by exhibits from the old Kässbohrer workshop. From historic hand carts and meter models to modern pull-out tables on which historic shots can be admired. A particularly deep immersion in the brand is made possible by the history wall, which describes the history of the proud brand from the birth of Karl Käßbohrer to today - a journey through decades of innovation and emotion and a constant reminder of shaping the future from origin.
