Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) knows the highways of Europe down to the slightest bend. PPC has speed limits, turn-offs, roundabouts and even curve radii saved. On the display, it gives precise information on the traffic situation ahead and, together with the autonomous cruise control, adjusts speed and gear-shifting strategy in advance.

Thanks to PPC, your driver can take to the roads like a local – from North Cape to the Mediterranean coast. This saves time and stress – and your company spends less on expensive fuel. But the main thing: PPC is part of the standard fittings of the Setra ComfortClass and TopClass – and together with other measures can save up to 4.5 percent on fuel.

The efficient on-board electricity supply in the Setra ComfortClass and TopClass impresses with its smart battery sensor. If the intelligent battery sensor detects a negative charging current while the engine is idling, the idling speed is slightly raised. The goal is to prevent the battery running down while the motor is running.

Furthermore, drains on the battery can be deliberately reduced or turned off. To ensure an optimised battery charging voltage, the intelligent battery sensor measures the battery temperature. Using a characteristic curve stored in the control device, the optimum battery voltage for charging to 100 percent is determined and transmitted to the generators. This ensures starting goes without a hitch, while the optimised treatment of batteries and generators extends their service life.

With the new, optional Driver Score assistance system, a driving instructor is always there in the cockpit. The system carries out an evaluation of personal driving styles in four categories: acceleration, braking, evenness and coasting. Driver Score analyses each driver’s personal driving style for each of these categories under set parameters. Also relevant are instructions on the vehicle status, such as low levels of fuel, AdBlue or motor oil.

Reports on the individual driving style are presented to the driver during the trip or optionally afterwards. If they clearly deviate from the ideal, practical instruction on optimising driving behaviour is given. This ensures a cost-aware, continuously efficient driving style.

New safety and assistance systems also help you save – by contributing to the avoidance of burdensome and expensive minor damage, accidents with personal damage and long-lasting downtime. The new 360° camera system offers a perfect all-round view – an enormous advantage when manoeuvring to park or in the depot. Active Brake Assist (ABA 5 for short) can also execute a full braking procedure when pedestrians are detected standing or moving ahead.

And with the new Active Drive Assist 2, Setra has taken an important step towards autonomous driving: it takes over longitudinal and transverse control on motorways and highways – that is, the coach always stays safely in lane. Emergency Stop Assist also carries out a controlled braking manoeuvre on the coach, keeping it in lane, if the driver suffers a health incident.
