Stuttgart / Simmern. Scherer Reisen Omnibus Gesellschaft mbH is deploying Setra double-decker buses on their regular-service routes in order to increase their capacity. The six new S 531 DT buses are used on a daily basis for transporting school children as well as operating on a new Express line which links up the Rhein-Hunsrück region with Bad Kreuznach. The route also has to travel on the motorway and is also used by commuters.

The vehicles are in operation on behalf of the Verkehrsverbunds Rhein-Mosel (VRM) public transport network and are each equipped with 79 seats, two spaces for disabled users and a 1.10 metre-wide single-wing door at the rear with folding ramp. Each seat provides passengers with a USB connection. The touring buses which are equipped with a digital ticket printer also provide real-time GPS journey and location data both to headquarters and to the public transport network.

The family business from Gemünden in Rhineland-Palatinate this year received a further 14 low-entry S 415 LE business buses in addition to the six S 531 DT models. Besides regular-service bus routes, the company which was founded in 1973 and is now being run by the second generation of the family, also offers bus holidays around Europe.
